Course Descriptions

AP Language and Composition is a college level rhetoric course. It is not only designed to prepare students for the AP examination in May, but it is also designed to prepare students for college level writing, discussions and readings. This course is rigorous and students who have thirst for knowledge will enjoy this course. The curriculum is mainly focused on nonfiction texts and this alone proves to be a challenge for most students of literature.

English 10 provides students with a background in argumentative writing skills and assists students ability to close read texts. This course will help prepare students for academic tests that they will begin to encounter in their later years such as the ASVAB, the ACT and the SAT. Course content will focus on organizing ideas in writing and working to improve sentence structures. 

FVCC Motion Picture Appreciation is a Running Start class that introduces the concept of film as a communication tool. Students will focus on various aspects of film, such as cinematography and mise en scene. Attendance is mandatory with this course and this course will appear on a college transcript.
